The major road hazard in much of Nevada's  beautiful basin & range landscape. That's one bony Hereford.
A Southern Journey
A venture through the Southwest & Old South, traveling back roads, camping in deserts & forests. 158 days, 12,581 miles, 8,825 pounds of CO2 produced.
Starting from giant Sequoia trees in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada to a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean in Florida . . . so much in between, then the return west.
A rhythm of the road evolved, day by day, more days, more weeks, more time than expected. Meandering miles accumulated. Photographs, video, written scrawls, conversations with new friends and ancient ones. Deep thoughts as the pavement hummed under my tires. 98 degrees F, 23 degrees F, blasting winds & blissful calms, sheets of gray cloud, brilliant starlight, time marked by phases of the moon. Disorientation during times when clouds hid the moon for days.

In retrograde motion "I have seen the elephant." Does that mean I am a planet?

Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Sierra Nevada. 1st stop.
Brilliant October foliage driven to the ground by November frost. Dark rain giving way to sharp blue skies reflecting the bones of the trees in calm pudddles. Wide open Western landscapes becoming forest on an eastward treck into the Old South, new territory in geographic fact, but the land of so much story, both national & personal.
